These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the BookX app and website operated by MAK Services, Kavali, Andhra Pradesh, India ("BookX", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using BookX, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use BookX.
1. About BookX
BookX is an online marketplace where users ("Sellers") list used books and other users ("Buyers") buy them. BookX is not the seller of the books. Each book is sold by its Seller, who is responsible for the book, its description and its condition. BookX provides the platform, payment collection, listing review and customer support.
2. Eligibility & account
- You must be 18 years or older, or use BookX with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.
- You log in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP). Keep your phone secure; you are responsible for all activity on your account.
- Give correct details (name, address, location, UPI ID). Wrong details can cause failed deliveries or payouts.
- One person may hold only one account. We may suspend or block accounts that break these Terms.
3. Selling on BookX
- Listing books is free. Add real photos of the actual book, and describe its condition honestly (marks, highlighting, torn or missing pages, etc.).
- Every new or edited listing is reviewed by our team before it goes live. We may reject or remove any listing.
- Once a book is sold, you must hand it over or ship it promptly using the delivery option chosen by the Buyer, and update the order status in the app.
- Do not sell the same book outside BookX while it is listed. Remove or edit the listing if it is no longer available.
Not allowed on BookX
- Pirated, photocopied, scanned or counterfeit books, and PDFs or e-books.
- Stolen books, or books you do not own.
- Books or content that are banned in India, obscene, hateful, or promote violence or illegal activity.
- Items that are not books, and misleading photos, titles or prices.
4. Buying on BookX
- The book price is set by the Seller. A payment gateway fee and a service fee are added and shown clearly at checkout before you pay.
- Payment is collected through Razorpay into the account of MAK Services. BookX never asks for your card details or UPI PIN.
- When you start checkout, the book is reserved for you for 15 minutes. The order is confirmed only after successful payment.
- With Checkout All, you can pay once for several books in your cart. A separate order is created for each book, and each Seller ships their book separately.
- Check the book at pickup or on delivery. Report any problem as described in the Refund policy below.
5. Offers
On books marked "negotiable", Buyers can send a price offer. The Seller can accept, decline or send a counter offer. An accepted offer lets that Buyer buy the book once at the agreed price, as long as the book is still available. An accepted offer is not a reservation; the book can be sold to someone else until payment is completed.
6. Fees & Seller payouts
- BookX charges Sellers a commission on each sold book. The amount you will receive is shown in your sold order in the app.
- After the order is marked Delivered, MAK Services transfers the Seller amount (book price minus commission) to the UPI ID saved in the Seller's profile.
- Sellers must add a correct UPI ID. BookX is not responsible for delays caused by a wrong or missing UPI ID.
- If an order is cancelled or refunded, no payout is made for that order. Payouts made for orders later found to be fraudulent may be recovered.
- Sellers are responsible for any taxes that apply to their own income from selling books.
7. Delivery
- Self Pickup: the Buyer collects the book from the Seller's location. Meet in a safe public place where possible.
- Seller Delivery: the Seller delivers the book to the Buyer's address.
- Parcel Service: the Seller ships by courier and adds the courier name and tracking number in the app.
The Seller is responsible for delivering the book in the described condition. BookX helps resolve problems but does not run its own delivery service.
8. Refund & Cancellation policy
Full refund
- Book not available: if the book was sold to someone else or removed before your payment was confirmed, the full amount paid for that book is refunded. In a Checkout All order, only the amount for the unavailable book(s) is refunded and the other orders continue.
- Cancelled by Seller: if the Seller cannot fulfil the order, the order is cancelled and the full amount is refunded.
- Cancelled before shipping: a Buyer may request cancellation by contacting support before the Seller marks the order as shipped, ready for pickup or out for delivery. The full amount is refunded.
Book not as described
If the book you received is the wrong book, has missing pages, or is in much worse condition than described, report it within 48 hours of delivery to info@makservice.in with your order number and photos. After review we may offer a full or partial refund. You may need to return the book to the Seller.
Not refundable
- Change of mind after the book is delivered or collected.
- Self Pickup orders where you inspected and accepted the book at pickup, except hidden defects reported within 48 hours.
- Minor wear that was shown in the photos or description.
Refund timeline
Approved refunds are initiated within 5–7 working days to your original payment method through Razorpay. Your bank or UPI app may take a further 5–7 working days to show the credit.
9. Chats, reviews & conduct
- Use chat only for discussing books and orders. Do not send abusive, obscene, threatening or spam messages.
- Do not take payment outside BookX for a book found on BookX. Payments outside the app are not protected by BookX.
- Reviews must be honest and based on a real order. We may remove fake, abusive or misleading reviews.
- To report a user, listing or message, contact info@makservice.in. We may suspend or block users who misuse BookX.
10. Intellectual property
The BookX name, logo, app and website design belong to MAK Services. By uploading photos and text to a listing, you confirm you have the right to use them and allow BookX to display them in the app and in promotions of that listing.
11. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
- BookX is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available or error-free.
- BookX does not guarantee the quality, edition, authenticity or condition of books listed by Sellers, beyond the review and refund processes in these Terms.
- To the extent permitted by law, the total liability of MAK Services for any claim related to an order is limited to the amount paid for that order.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify MAK Services against claims, losses and expenses arising from your listings, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.
13. Suspension & termination
You may stop using BookX and delete your account at any time (see Delete Account). We may suspend, block or remove accounts or listings that violate these Terms or the law, or that we reasonably believe are fraudulent.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page. Continuing to use BookX after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
